Happy Valentine's Day

I spent most of the weekend getting treats ready for family/friends to give away today. I made cut out sugar cookies and iced them (my Mom's recipe). I made strawberry cake balls. I dipped them with white almond bark because my Wal Mart doesn't have candy melts. And I added red food coloring gel to some of the leftover melted bark. IT DON'T WORK. It looked more like icing. I'm thinking I've tried this before and just forgot it doesn't work. (Note to self. Quit adding food coloring gel to almond bark.) I also made peanut butter blossoms. Lawsy sakes alive those suckers are good.

I'm working tonight so Brent and I went out last night for dinner. We wanted to eat at our favorite Hibachi/sushi place but of course it was closed. We ended up at Chili's. Romantic huh? I didn't have to cook so good enough for me.

Oklahoma Blizzard 2011 Take 2

We are getting ready for the second big snow storm of the year. See Ardmore? Our town is in the county that "ore" is on.

We are still thawing out from last week's blizzard. I made it to the store early Monday morning to restock the fridge and the pantry. The stores in town, we have only 2, were stripped bare on Saturday but looked pretty good when I went. Wal Mart was still out of some things so I hit Homeland and was able to finish up. So we have the essentials plus some non-essentials that just makes being stranded in the house a couple of days more pleasant. Now watch it do nothing :)

Very Proud

Our niece signed yesterday to run track for the University of Texas ~ Arlington. We are so very proud of her. She will be only a couple of hours away from us so we are looking forward to get to see her compete on a college level. How cool is that?

Oklahoma Blizzard 2011 and the town shuts down

It doesn't look that bad but underneath the snow is a bunch of ice. It started coming in late Monday starting with rain, then freezing rain, then sleet and then snow. And yes, it was a blizzard. School was canceled early in the evening on Monday and we have been closed since. I don't see us going on Friday either because temperatures aren't supppose to be above freezing. The news from the street, and by the street I mean Facebook, is that several businesses were even closed. So we have been enjoying this



a lot. And she



is really bored. And he



has been hanging out with us. And he



would be happy if we never had school again. (He was NOT cooking during this picture. He only wanted to act like he was cooking.) And she



doesn't know how close she came to being an outside dog on Tuesday. And he



doesn't seem bothered about any of this mess. And I



have been in my jammies since I got home from work Monday night.
