Birthday Party and Other Stuff

We celebrated my nephew Aaron's 10th birthday today at mom & dad's house. His birthday was actually yesterday but they came up here so grammy could participate.

This is grammy with all of the great grandkids.

After the celebrations, some of us went to the city lake to get out while the sun was shining. It's been a few days.

Do you know how hard it is to get 3 kids to swing at the same time?

Updates

We got back from our break Saturday afternoon in time to watch the OU men play basketball. I thought Brent was going to have a coronary but they won.

Colton's baseball team is still doing very good & Colton is still hitting the ball (knock on wood). Monday we won the first game and won the 2nd game by run rule. They had a round robin so the 7th graders didn't get to play. Played again last night winning again by run rule, but the 7th graders lost by 1. I know they were disappointed but it's hard winning every single baseball game. No more games this week, yay!, but next week is going to be a doozy with games everyday except Wednesday.

Brent's company dinner is on Friday. I haven't been to one in years but this one they are celebrating 30 years of business so they are doing more celebrating than the business stuff. They are giving away lots of prizes too so me being there makes our chances a little bit better :)

Mini Break

We are enjoying our time here with family. We went to the HS boys game last night. They were getting beat pretty bad but finally quit playing like a bunch of monkeys & only lost by 4. The game lasted so long. I know we threw 4 boys & I think the other team threw 3 or 4.

Today Becky & I went shopping and had lunch. Brent stayed home with the kids & they swam pretty much all day long. When we got back the kids wanted to go over Kemah & walk around. It was really crowded & lines for rides were really long.

We ordered pizzas for supper & just hung around the house this evening watching basketball.

This is what the sunrise looked like when we were leaving for our trip. Brent even stopped on the side of the highway so I could get this picture.

Spring Break ~ it's official

Spring break? Weren't we just on Christmas break? Goodness gracious! Anywho, we aren't heading down south until Wednesday morning so I've been catching up laundry. Colton spent the night with a friend, Hannah slept until 11:00 (I can't remember if she ever slept in that long)& now she is trying to beat my hula hoop score on the Wii fit. Mama still has it! Oh yeah, Brent went to work like a good little husband.

In scrappy news, I finished the mini album I was working on and I should take pictures of it (I like how it turned out) but I'm lazy. But here is the LO I put to the side to work on the album; I got it finished also, yay!

I'm going to try to blog while we are on our mini break. I'm also going to twitter our trip on the road if you are bored & want to know if Brent & I haven't seperated by the time we get there. (wink, wink wink) I kid!

The Wiggle Trance

There is something about The Wiggles that put the boys in a trance. I wish they had a 24 hour Wiggle station :)

Baseballing

Baseball has been really fun so far this year. Granted we are only a few weeks in & I'm sure I will be ready for it to be over with later on but so far, so good. I ventured inside the fence yesterday to get some pictures without fence.

Let me just say "oh how I wished I had this grass at my house". It feels like lush carpet. Even the visiting team was commenting how nice it was.

The boys got some hand me down shirts from the HS yesterday. I'm just glad Colton remembered to take his long sleeve black under armour or he would have looked really funny.

Colton warming up.

So many of the boys have been playing ball together since they started in little league.

I love this picture of Colton and the 1st base coach. He is a retired Oklahoma Highway Patrolman. He doesn't get paid to help, he just does because he loves baseball and teaching the kids.

Another picture that has nothing to do with baseball but I couldn't resist. Little Ben was feeling yuck yesterday and he kept crying out during his nap. Finally I just laid him on the couch. He woke up & got up but then I walked by & he was like this.

Oh yeah, Colton made the winning hit in the last inning. And we came from behind in the 2nd game in the last inning to win too! I'm telling you they are killing me; my heart can't take games like that.

Did you spring?

So how many clocks did you forget to move up? I think we got all of ours. Colton has 3 baseball games this week (1 at home, 2 on the road) & then spring break, yea! We are heading south to Seabrook, TX for a few days. I can't wait to go to a scrapbooking store my sisinlaw took me to the last time I was there. It was an awesome store.

In scrappy news, I haven't really done anything in a few weeks. I still have a LO sitting on my table but it is getting ready to get moved over so I can work on an baby album for my friend's daughter. Hopefully I will have it done before the baby graduates from high school :)

Long before HMOs.....

there was a little doctor in my hometown named Dr. Herrin. I can't remember if that is how you spell his last name it's been so long. His office consisted of two rooms, a waiting area and then his office, that's it. He had no nurse or receptionist. He saw you on a first come first serve basis. My mom would take us kids there if we had a cold and needed a "shot". He always gave a shot along with a Safe T Pop sucker which I thought was so cool.

One time when I was in college I got a terrible sinus infection. Dr. Herrin had retired years earlier but my mom called him on a Sunday afternoon to see if I could come by his house to get a "shot" before I headed back to school. And of course he told her to send me on over. He had everything ready when I got there and like old times I got my shot, but no sucker, and it worked.

I don't know what made me think of him today. I guess because I've been fighting a cold for a week now and it's such a big pain in the butt to get in to see a doctor anymore. I wonder if there are doctors out there like that anymore.

My Word

Saw this on Kelly's blog & gave it a whirl.

Your Word is "Peace"

You see life as precious, and you wish everyone was safe, happy, and taken care of.

Social justice, human rights, and peace for all nations are all important to you.

While you can't stop war, you try to be as calm and compassionate as possible in your everyday life.

You promote harmony and cooperation. You're always willing to meet someone a little more than halfway.

And I do want world peace! (name that movie)

Baseball

Colton's first baseball game was yesterday and of course it was so windy. They played really well for the first game. We won by run rule 1-11.

Getting a pep talk.

Warming up the ole arm.

On deck.

At bat.

On base.

Oh lord this makes me nervous.

Has nothing to do with baseball but this is one in a very few moments when Hannah was still and quiet :)

Happy March (a little late)

Life as I know it will end today for at least 6 weeks. Baseball starts today with 3 games already scheduled for the week. The lawn chairs have been moved to their spot in the back of my SUV. I need to find the blankets that don't gather 1/2 of the dry grass in the area. I need to pack a little snack bag, saves me lots of $$$ not going to the concession stand. Went to look for Colton's long sleeve under armour shirt & found his baseball jacket in his closet. Where is that boys head. And I didn't find the under armour but every piece of clothing I found in his closet not hanging up was thrown in the middle of his bedroom floor. I'm going to make him pay me money for every piece of clothing I find on the floor then maybe he will start hanging things up. You think? I can hope can't I?

Our poor Max went thru some barbed wire he didn't see this morning & sliced his ear and a little spot on the back of his neck/head pretty good. After I got back to the house I tried to clean it up but he went into his dog house. Then later when I was cleaning up the blood off the back porch he wasn't around. After the boys went down for naps, I went out looking for him and he was over at the barn. He will come up to me but every time I try to look at his ear he goes off where I can't get to him. His ear was still dripping blood. Hopefully it will be okay!
