Quarters

Brent started collecting state quarters when they first came out. He has quite the collection now. Colton use to help but now Hannah is his only helper.

Colton's baseball season starts on Thursday and he has games on Friday and Saturday. Hopefully it will warm up a little. I need to get the chairs and blankets gathered.

Hannah is going to play softball this year over at Durant. Should be fun keeping up with both kids. At least I'll have some blog ammo now.

My goal this week is to start scrapbooking again. I'm behind on my pictures and projects I've started here and there. If that damn couch would quit calling my name for afternoon naps :)

And this picture has nothing to do about this post but it just cracks me up. Talk about having no worries.

The Balloon Car Chronicles

Oy Vey!!!!! Last week Colton had a project for science. The project? Build a balloon car using Newton's Laws of Motion. Huh? The last time I even thought of Newton's Laws of Motion was when I was in school.

So the balloon car was everyone's focus, including my Dad. He stayed up until midnight Wednesday building 2 cars that didn't move an inch :) Brent made a trip to Hobby Lobby for cool supplies, made a car and it didn't move an inch :) I laughed. I got in on it Thursday and mine didn't move an inch. I cussed and threw it in the trash. Brent was stressing. He took off after lunch on Thursday and got one made.

It became known as the "uncool" car. It wasn't pretty but it went the required distance (and then some) and was pretty fast. But it wasn't quite what Brent wanted it to look like. My Dad came over after work so he and Brent could work together.

And the "cool" car was made. It didn't go as fast or far but enough to meet the requirements. Then we all joined hands dancing in a circle because the project was done. Not really but we did take my Dad out for supper for his help.

Both cars went to school on Friday "just in case". Colton raced the "cool" car but it didn't win, but it looked good.

Love Is In the Air?

Well my washer and dryer are loving me because I have given them all of the attention since 8 o'clock this morning. What a romantic day. Spending it folding underwear.

This is what I sent Colton and Brent. I sent the kids' to them on Thursday because they were out of school Friday for parent/teacher conferences. I sent Hannah a princess box that was filled with all sorts of goodies. It was a white box with red polka dots. So cute. Brent got his on Friday at work. I got a text from him telling me thank you and that he guessed he had to get me something now. Awwww, just what the wife wants to hear.

So he walks in the door with this basket filled with wine glasses, wine, a bangle, candy, cheese, summer sausage and cheese. The wine was delish and I have maybe a swallow left. I will definitely be checking out the liquor store come Monday but Monday is President's Day so it may be closed. Do liquor stores close on holidays? Oh well guess I will find out :)

So I hope your Valentine's Day is filled with love and romance. I must run, the dryer is beeping at me again and he's very impatient.

P.S. The Amazing Race starts tonight. There is 2 brothers racing named Jet and Cord McCoy. I graduated High School with their older sister. They were little boys when we graduated and then they moved away so I haven't them in years. I'll be cheering them on and hope they do a really good job.

Oh the weather outside is frightful........

So we are getting a beautiful snow fall right now. Not anything like the Northeast and I know y'all are tired of snow but for Southeastern Oklahoma this is fun.

The schools let out early and Brent went by to pick up the kids for me. They have already been out messing up my snow :).

They lasted only 30 minutes. Wimps!

And this one got to the Dr.'s office before it got really bad this morning. He has an ear infection and got an antibiotic thank goodness.

So everybody is home safe and sound. Really wished I had some Dr. Pepper in the house but at least there is coffee. I have milk, bread and stuff in the freezer so we should be good to go for now. I'm going to make snow ice cream, yum! Wish my Mom was here to enjoy this; she loved the snow so much. Makes me miss her more than I already do!

Breakfast Casserole ~ so goooooooooooooood!!!!

We've made breakfast casserole in our family for years. I've used the recipe I got from Mom forever and it's good but I got have another one that is better (sorry Mom). My old piano teacher/music teacher made it and brought it over when my Mom passed away. I thought I would share the recipe with you. Make it the night before serving.

1 lb. bulk sausage
6 slices French Bread (older works better)
butter or margarine
1 1/2 C grated sharp cheddar cheese
5 eggs
1 pint half and half
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper

Spray 13x9 inch casserole dish with Pam. Butter bread slices and cut into cubes. Put bread pieces in casserole dish in one layer. Cook sausage, crumble and drain on paper towels. Spread sausage on top of bread and top with cheese. Combine eggs, half and half, dry mustard, salt, pepper and beat. Pour over casserole. Refrigerate overnight and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is golden brown. Keeps well in fridge for a couple of days.

Saturday You Tube Day

I was sucked in to the world of YouTube today. Bored much? Even though there is tons of laundry to do and a dirty house to clean; I chose to sit on my butt all day and watch cute hair tutorials for girls. I watched one video that showed how to make a heart braid. Cute! So I practiced on Hannah today and this is how it turned out after my first try.

I'm going to do this for her Valentine's party at school. Just need to find some red or ribbon for a bow. I promise if I can do this, you can do this. I have fumbly fingers when it comes to doing hair. Here is the original video. She has a lot of videos for cute and easy hairstyles for girls.

We Were Bored

Brent has been in Las Vegas since Tuesday so it's just me & the kids around here. I had a friend work for me last night so we could just have a night at home. Hannah & I decided to play with make up.

This child's eyelashes are so thick & long. I wished I had half of them. She has been bugging me about wearing make up; not until middle school. I'm pretty sure that is my Mom let me start wearing a little. She also wants to start shaving her legs; not sure when I'll let her start. I'm trying to keep her little as long as I can :)
